Today, we're sharing that [Moondream has been acquired by Prime Intellect](https://www.primeintellect.ai/blog/moondream).

We started Moondream with a belief that small, efficient, open models can beat giant generalist models at specific tasks. Over time, that belief expanded: models, training, and inference infrastructure work best when they are built together. Prime shares both convictions, and we're thrilled to be joining them. Prime is building the open superintelligence stack so every company can train, evaluate, fine-tune, and serve models they own.

Joining Prime dramatically accelerates our mission. Moondream's models get Prime's full training stack. Photon gets to power a much broader range of models. Together, we can help everyone train, deploy, and serve frontier multimodal models across video, image, voice, and computer use.

Moondream models will remain open, and will keep improving, now at a much faster rate.

## What this means for Moondream Cloud

On November 13, 2026, 30 days from today, the Moondream Cloud (inference and Lens) will shut down. Unspent purchased credits will be refunded. We'll help you migrate to Prime for inference, fine-tuning, or any similar needs.
