# Rainmaker Raises $100M Series B to Scale Low-Cost Water Production and Weather Modification

> Rainmaker Technology announced a $100 million Series B to expand atmospheric research and scale drone-based cloud seeding for freshwater production. The company says its radar and validation systems have linked operations to more than 145 million verified gallons of freshwater.

# Rainmaker Raises $100M Series B to Scale Low-Cost Water Production and Weather Modification

Rainmaker Technology Corporation announced a $100 million Series B on September 21, 2026. The round includes NOA VC, Upfront Ventures, DCVC, Lowercarbon Capital, and Dream Ventures. The company says the funding will expand its atmospheric research organization and reduce the cost of producing freshwater through cloud seeding.

## How the system works

Rainmaker flies weather-resistant drones into winter storm clouds and releases a small amount of silver iodide, around which ice crystals form. The crystals can grow heavy enough to fall as rain or snow. The company uses its own radar and validation systems to measure how much additional precipitation each operation produces.

Rainmaker says it recorded 82 unambiguous seeding signatures over four months, representing more than 145 million verified gallons of freshwater. It also says an August operation near Homer, Alaska produced 19 million gallons in about three hours.

## What the funding supports

The new capital will expand a team of atmospheric scientists, radar and satellite specialists, and materials scientists. Their work will focus on which clouds to seed, when to seed them, how much material to release, and where precipitation should fall to benefit farms, ecosystems, and industry. Rainmaker also plans to support research at national laboratories and universities.

The company currently operates in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California, and Colorado, and says it plans to expand across the American West and globally. It also describes water as a first application, with longer-term work on limits such as hail damage and poor soil.
