I own a titanium tea set because a man named Tynan likes tea.

Tynan has lived out of a single bag since before anyone called it being a digital nomad, and every year he publishes a list of the gear he owns and still uses. I buy most of it, 80 or 90%. I've never compared his picks against anyone else's. I like the way he thinks about the world, and whatever he recommends, I buy because I respect him. Some of what I carry from his lists is more than ten years old. That's his rule at work, and it's mine now too: buy the best you can find, because it will last, or the cheapest, because it won't matter, and never anything in the middle.
