We spent three weeks refactoring DATAMIMIC CE with coding agents. And at some point we discovered that parts of our verification were testing the wrong code.

We had built a before/after comparison to check that the refactoring hadn't changed existing behavior.

Except an editable-install finder registered in Python's sys.meta_path loaded submodules from the current checkout, even though the top-level package came from the original one. The supposedly old implementation was partly running new code. For those modules, the comparison could hide exactly the differences we wanted it to reveal.

We marked the affected results VOID: an early parser comparison covering all 931 XML inputs, plus early direct-run and service results. We kept them in the archive and fixed the setup. We removed the interfering editable-install finder and started checking the origins of loaded DATAMIMIC CE submodules, not just the root package's __file__.
